Business management Level 5

Course Summary

The qualification in Business Management at Level 5 has been developed  to meet the requirements of employers, the needs of learners and our centres. This qualification is not tied to any specific industry, but delivers the knowledge, understanding and skills that meet the needs of learners aspiring to roles in Business and Administrative Management in different sectors on a domestic and international platform.We provide a flexible route for learners who have already achieved qualifications in Business and Administrative Management at a lower level and for learners who do not have management qualifications, but have qualifications in other areas and/or prior experience the workplace. The Diploma allows learners to acquire a range of knowledge and understanding and to develop some of the key skills required to work as an administrative manager.

Entry Requirments

The Qualifications have been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Entry to the Qualifications will be through centre interview, and the candidates will be expected to hold the following -

  • Learners who possess Qualifications at Level 3 and/or 4;
  • Learners who have work experience at a managerial level and demonstrate ambition with clear career goals;
  • Learners who possess a first degree in another discipline and want to develop their careers in business

Assessment

Each unit within the qualification is assessed through an assignment. Assignment tasks will be written in a way to make them realistic ‘work-related’ tasks wherever possible. Knowledge, understanding and application will need to be demonstrated by Learners. Original thought, problem solving and recommendations on actions will also be asked for from the Learner where appropriate for the unit. Intellectual rigour will be expected appropriate to the level of the Qualification.

Intended Course Learning Outcomes:

The Qualifications will develop the Learner’s ability to:

  1. apply analytical and evaluative techniques and to enhance those skills;
  2. investigate issues and opportunities;
  3. develop their awareness and appreciation of managerial, organisational and environmental issues;
  4. use management techniques and practices in imaginative ways;
  5. make use of relevant information from different sources;
  6. develop and encourage problem-solving and creativity to tackle problems and challenges;
  7. exercise judgement, own and take responsibility for decisions and actions; and
  8. develop the ability to recognise and reflect on personal learning and improve their personal, social and other transferable skills.
